In his 15th year as Instructor, this year has seen Max's club UCB double in size, from 15 to over 30 members. It's also had the most successful year ever...the most number graded, highest Nationals attendance, most medals won, as well as another home-grown Novice to Brown. His sessions have included Judo, Boxing, Wrestling and Yoga with the help of guest instructors to keep things interesting, as well as involving the club in voluntary work within the community. UCB Jiu Jitsu also won the coveted Club of the Year Award 2017 at the Uni Summer Ball, and have had their training sessions filmed for the University's promo video.
Max also set up his second club this year, a Junior Club in Wolverhampton which boasts an incredible 45 members already. It also happens to be TJJF Club No. 100. The club attended its first ever Nationals and returned with 19 competitive medals. They have just had their first grading with a 100% pass rate to Yellow Belt.
This year Max also took over as Regional Chair, responsible for the day-to-day running of the Region. He has supported clubs across the board, and helped increase numbers and engagement at Regional events. He has also been instrumental in the setting up of yet another new club in the West Midlands. He has led teaching at Regionals, conducted CA/AI/CI Assessments, as well as teaching at Nationals which saw him promoted to Secondary Tutor. He is currently trying to set up the third new club in the Region, before this year is done...
