Want a fun way to get fit, learn some self-defence and make a bunch of friends in the process? Come and have a go at Jiu Jitsu. See your nearest club here.

So what exactly is Jiu Jitsu?
We teach a modern form of the traditional Japanese martial art Jiu Jitsu, which simply described is:

  • Defensive techniques, using an attacker’s momentum against them
  • Traditionally based – spectacular traditional throws
  • Locks, strikes and throws adapted for modern day contexts

Sounds cool, why should I learn it?
Jiu Jitsu is a defensive martial art – learning it gives you situational awareness and self-defence skills. Regular training gives you:

  • Improved strength, fitness, co-ordination and posture
  • Self-discipline and improve concentration
  • Confidence and leadership skills

We’re BUCS registered, so once you’ve learned your spectacularly impressive throws you can show them off winning a few medals for your University.
