It's great seeing all the social media posts with people on the mat doing some amazing Jitsu, or posts on recruitment spreading the word about how awesome Jitsu really is. Keep up the great work. Let me spend a moment introducing myself. I'm Eric Law, a Godan instructor based in the West Midlands, and I've been teaching in The Jiu Jitsu Foundation for over 25 years. During this time, I've run a club, started new clubs and helped some wonderful Jitsukas achieve their Jitsu dreams. Whilst I've had lots of personal successes in Jitsu, seeing my students promoted to black belt or above is what has made me most proud. Fingers crossed, more to follow. As 2024 was drawing to an end, I was privileged to be voted in as the Chair of The Jiu Jitsu Foundation. It is an absolute honour to lead this great organisation, and I will give it my all. I see my role to lead in the following areas: Ensure that we preserve the rich traditions of Jiu Jitsu but also to advance it into a dynamic future. Ensure that Jiu Jitsu is for everyone, regardless of age, gender, background, or physical ability. Empower individuals to believe in their abilities, have confidence in themselves and achieve their goals. I am excited to continue the progress we made last year. Our collective efforts will define our incredible organisation on and off the mat for many years to come. After collating feedback from our senior instructors, we have launched the following major projects: The Brand inc. Marketing & Comms The Product The Business Model Governance Data Analysis We believe progress in the above projects will improve, enhance and streamline the Foundation. I will be making many visits, so hopefully I get to see you in person, but failing that I hope to see you at our next national event - Randori Nationals. It's an awesome weekend event that has 6 hours of training with our top instructors, competitions at all levels and even a social "thrown" in too. The dates are 3 and 4 May in Birmingham so get it in the diary and help us create another brilliant event. See you soon Eric Law
