The 2025/26 Jitsu season is nearly at an end, but we have some exciting events coming up.

Congratulations to everyone who's graded this month; it has been wonderful to see the many celebratory photos people have been sharing. We still have two major gradings ahead: the Brown Belt grading this Saturday in Birmingham and the Shodan+ gradings at the Summer Ball in Newcastle. Good luck to all the candidates—I have my fingers crossed for you. Go in there and smash it!

The Summer Ball is always a fantastic event where we come together to celebrate those promoted to black belt and above. While we recognise the individual's journey, these achievements are truly a team effort involving instructors, mentors, training partners, clubs, and regions.

The celebrations will continue with the announcement of the national winners for:

• New Instructor of the Year
• Instructor of the Year
• Club of the Year

Congratulations to all the regional winners. Selecting just one winner for each category will be not be easy.

For university students whose clubs have closed for the year, I encourage you to continue training at a local town club. For those who remain active over the summer, we will ensure there are gradings in September. Please send your requests to the office.

I am continuing my club visits and enjoying them immensely. If you would like me to visit your club during the summer months, please let me know.
