COVID 19 Upate : A Message from the Tertiary Board.
A Message from the Tertiary Board. Like everyone, over the last few weeks TJJF has had to adapt quickly to address the COVID19 outbreak. Gareth Horgan, the TJJF General Manager, along with the Management Board chaired by Jim Bass, have been working extremely hard to secure our position and ensure that we are prepared and ready to resume operations when some degree of normality returns to our lives, and for that we are extremely grateful. The decision to suspend all training and other events until further notice was largely out of our hands. It is very difficult to foresee when this situation will end and normal training can resume, but we also ask that you follow all guidelines: keep your distance from others, and please avoid meeting socially. Most of our members are young and fit, but it is important that we do all that we can to reduce the risk of spreading the disease. Stay home, stay safe, keep others safe. That said, we are looking at new ways to stay connected as a community. Live streamed sessions using training exercises and strength and conditioning have already been piloted, and we will roll these out across regions. We are also exploring after session happy hours so we can maintain our social lives, albeit via Skype or Zoom. These are exceptional times, and we need you to be exceptional people. In years to come, the story of how you responded to this could be a very powerful chapter in your life. To quote the governor of Michigan, “Tough times don’t last. Tough people do.” Look out for each other, and stay awesome. Ian Lambert, Chair, The Tertiary Board.
