I can't believe it's already the end of January, time is flying by!
The start of the year is always a busy period for our community. Whether it's a fresh cohort of recruits, university exams, or just making a start on that "next year to-do list" you'd made. And on top of all that, there's training - back in my day, I used sessions as a break from academic pressures. Two hours of jitsu sorted me out, and gave me the head-space to get back into revision with more energy and focus. I hope you all value it as much as I did.
Similar to last year, we have scheduled a national Brown and Dan Course, open to all brown belts and above. It’s a great opportunity for high-quality training, and to get the latest in technical direction and feedback. This will be followed by a Shodan+ grading, so fingers crossed we will finish on a high and celebrate some fantastic jitsu with new belts!
We have a busy couple of months coming up, so make sure they're in your diaries. It'll be great to see everyone:
Keep checking our socials for regional events such as BBaDs, Regionals etc.
On a personal note; after leading a club for 25 years, I handed it over to an amazing instructor, giving them the space to develop their teaching style and grow. I still really miss teaching though, so I'm making a promise to myself (and to you) that I'll do more club visits in 2026. Last week, I went to Coventry University and I loved every minute of it. Hopefully the students did too. If you would like me to do a club visit, send me an email or send me a message on the socials.
That’s all for now. Good luck in your recruitment drives and exams/assignments.
