Wow - It's June already and I'm six months into the Chair role! It's been a whirlwind of challenges, learning and laughter, but I've enjoyed every minute of it. As the saying goes, time flies when you're having fun! Being June, grading season has come around once again, so good luck to all those going for a belt upgrade. If your instructor has given you the go-ahead, that shows that they believe in you, so go into the room with confidence and give it your all! It's also just one month until the #tjjfSummerBall2025, a fantastic chance to celebrate another brilliant year of jitsu. More importantly, it's a celebration of the commitment, dedication and hard work of over 30 jitsuka who will be going for their next dan grades. It will be a real privilege to watch them at their best and, hopefully, see them earn their new belts. Alongside the dan grading, the weekend is packed with other activities: a training course, presentations and a lively ceilidh to wrap things up. If you're free on the 12th July, come and join us! The booking form can be found here. Lastly, a special shout-out to one of our junior members, George Keen, who's doing something truly inspiring. Since the age of 4, George has been growing out his hair. Now, at 12, he's cutting it all off to donate to The Little Princess Trust, helping create wigs for children who've lost their own hair.
George and his mum are also aiming to raise £1,400 - enough to create two real-air wigs. You can read more about their story (and donate, if you'd like) here: Just Giving page. Good luck George and Mum – you're doing an amazing thing!! That's all for now. Hope to see you all soon!
